At last! Comic-Con is posting their schedule later than ever this year, although no later than they’d said they would. We finally get to post the complete information about our “Where Are the Action Chicks?” panel. Bringing together a number of online friends and several others I look forward to meeting, I’ll lead a discussion on why there aren’t more action chicks as the lead characters in comic books and movies. Why aren’t there more superheroine movies? Why is there still no theatrical Wonder Woman movie?
Panel: Where Are the Action Chicks?
Convention: San Diego Comic-Con International
Where: San Diego Convention Center, room 26AB.
When: Friday, July 23, 2010, 2:00-3:30
War Chief:
Action Flick Chick Katrina Hill (blogger, Screen Teamer, and G4TV’s Next Woman of the Web)
Panelists:
Nerdy Bird Jill Pantozzi (blogger – MTV Splash Page, Girls Entertainment Network, thenerdybird.com)
Adrianne Curry (cosplayer, reality TV star – America’s Next Top Model, My Fair Brady)
Luci Romberg (stuntwoman – Ninja Warrior, Zombieland) [UPDATE: A stunt job came up, so Luci can’t make it. Given the erratic nature of stuntwork, we always knew this was possible. To make it up, she promised to spill some beans on Green Lantern later this summer. Actress Clare Kramer (Glory on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is coming in her place. See “Our Comic-Con Panel Lost Luci, Gained Goddess Glory.”]
Marjorie Liu (writer – Black Widow, Hunter Kiss, Dirk & Steele)
J. Michael Straczynski (writer – Babylon 5, The Amazing Spider-Man, Wonder Woman)
Presenters:
Jennifer Stuller (Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors)
Gina Misiroglu (The Superhero Book, The Supervillain Book)
Special Appearance:
Cindy Morgan (TRON, Caddyshack)
Next week we’ll post a list of other panels of particular interest to this chick. But curse whoever scheduled a Hall H panel for The Expendables (Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren) to overlap with our friends who are doing “Geek Girls Exist” late Friday afternoon.
* Caddyshack and Tron – But What About Tron Legacy? Interview: Actress Cindy Morgan
* Interview with Stuntwoman Luci Romberg (Luci Steel) part 1 and part 2
* Zombieland Photos: Behind the Scenes with Luci Romberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and a Scary *** Clown part 1 and part 2

I can’t wait…it’s gonna be AWESOME! You ladies are gonna kick some ass!!
The annual Slave Leia group photo at 1:00…..I know where you all can find RUSSELLMANIA!!
Great list – Luci Romberg and Cindy Morgan are awesome people to interview.
My question (since I can’t be there) is does the panel think that Gina Carano be the next great female action star?
Awesome, look forwarding to going to this panel!
MarQ…good question…she has the looks….we’ll see if she can act! I like my action chicks to kick some major ass (and look good) like Cynthia Rothrock, Milla Jovovich or Action Flick Chick!

I second the comment on GINA CARANO. Question remaining the same, but with a slight slant.
Can GINA CARANO become the next great action star? And is she ushering in a new era in female-leads that can actually fight as opposed to those who learn to fight? Is GINA the Stallone/Arnie equivalent for more gender-enlightened times?
I hear in HAYWIRE she actually kicks ass. No clever edits or cuts. She pummels down. HARD!
To add to DeepCoverage’s comment – Gina did literally knock out a stunt guy during pre-filming rehearsals . She is doing all her own fight scenes. Love to see an on screen fighter between Luci Romberg and Gina btw.
This panel was fabulous! Adrianne Curry is a boxer, and I like her attitude…:-)
Glad to hear it went well.
So did Gina Carano and her rear-naked choke hold get a mention?
No…. I’m not obsessed. I just want to see her in movies….. and perhaps a maids outfit……. but that’s it………. maybe with a duster….. but that’s definitely it.
To be honest, as a fan of MMA, I’ve always thought she’d do well on screen. I bet friends that she’d be the next big female action movie star.
I like to win my bets 🙂
