Die Hard (1988)
…w you’re out there, is that the guy that played Carl Winslow is one of the cops. This is the first of at least three times that good ol’ Reginald VelJohnson plays a police officer. I think this guy lost a bet with someone that made him only able to play cop roles. Tough luck, Carl. I was very surprised, yet awesomely grossed out at the amount of blood and guts shown in this flick. It is rated R for a reason. One of the first kills of the movie is… Continue reading

Interview with Stuntwoman Luci Romberg Part 1
…’s hard because not a lot of guys will hire women to do ND – nondescript – cop or the security guard or to get shot or the FBI agent to get shot. I worked on an episode of Chuck a month or so ago and I was shooting guns, and I got shot or whatever but they cut that out. I don’t know if it’s because people don’t want to see women getting shot or what. I don’t know what it is, but it’s getting better for women getting hired for those spots but it st… Continue reading

Raw Deal (1986): Plenty of Learning Opportunities
…And that my friends, is what makes a true action star. Raw Deal is about a cop, Kaminsky (Arnold), who fakes his own death to go under cover as a mobster, Joseph P. Brenner, in order to bring down their whole operation. When you ask Arnold to do a job, he freakin’ does the job well. He gains the mob’s trust well enough to start working for them and then he freakin’ kills them all! And by kill them all, I mean he single handedly goes to their hango… Continue reading

Interview: Yancy Butler (Witchblade, Wolvesbayne, Kick-Ass)
…action chick. In her first major role, she played the machine – a robotic cop – on the TV series Mann & Machine. Her first theatrical motion picture was John Woo’s Hard Target starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, soon followed by Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes. She played another police officer on the series Brooklyn South and yet another on Witchblade. As Detective Sara ‘Pez’ Pezzini, she bore the magical, symbiotic weapon known as the Witchblade which… Continue reading

Action Heroine versus Horror Heroine – What’s the Diff?
…ction generally (I only said generally) does not. T2: They take on all the cops, not just the T1000. JimmyMiz: Sarah Conner only got physically strong in T2 after she had gone from horror to action chick. mhictire: Did someone list Linda Hamilton from the original Terminator as action? Personally I don’t know that I would label Terminator as a horror film. Sci-Fi/Action, sure. jeremyhyler: action heroine seem to be physically stronger. ie sarah co… Continue reading

Hard to Kill (1990) Review: Young Seagal Speaks Softly and Kicks a Lot of Ass
…s responsive. Steven Seagal is Mason Storm who is… Hard to Kill. This cool cop catches a crooked politician collaborating with criminal scumbags. Said politician and scumbags retaliate by killing Storm and his wife. What? They kill Steven Seagal?!? Yeah, I was surprised when he dies so early in the movie… but wait, what’s this? He’s still alive! He’s just too hard to kill! Seven years later, Mason Storm awakens and suffers no neurological, muscul… Continue reading
