Road House (1989): Skinny Dipping and Throat Ripping
…is just Dalton on a mission for revenge…and he gets it, too. Dalton is the Rambo of the bouncer world. He is calm, cool and collected even when 15 guys are surrounding him. I was a little surprised to see Swayze deliver some pretty good one liners: If you’re gonna have a pet, keep it on a leash (and he’s not talking about an animal, folks); Tails again (which makes more sense in the context of the movie); You’re made for each other. There are plen… Continue reading

5 Throat Rips That Will Leave You Speechless!
…t would think, but to her daughter Eve (India Eisley). See it at ~4:25. 1. Rambo [(2008) the fourth one] This one is my favorite blend of kick ass hero taking down a despicable baddie about to do horrible things. RAMBOOOOO! Honorary mention goes to television show Game of Thrones. It’s not very often you see this kind of gore on a TV show, but Khal Drogo doesn’t care. When a person threatens him, he has to teach them to hold their tongue! This is… Continue reading

Red Dawn (1984): Avenging Before the Avengers Made It Cool
…dering how not violent it seems when compared to modern action movies like Rambo or Saving Private Ryan or Trolls World Tour. There were a lot of explosions and a lot of people getting gunned down. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it had 134 acts of violence per hour, equaling 2.23 per minute. Now that is a lot of violence, you might think. Well, director John Milius had another take, saying: “I see this as an anti-war movie in the… Continue reading

Coming Attraction: The Raven (2012)
…When I think of a badass murder-mystery solver, my first thought goes to famed horror writer Edgar Allen Poe. Doesn’t yours? It doesn’t? Well, looks like someone else had the same idea as me and made a movie out of it. The Raven stars Luke Evans, Alice Eve, and John Cusack as Mr. Poe himself, and it flaps into theaters on March 9, 2012. Quoth the Action Chick, “Rambo four”… Continue reading

Best Example of James Bond Film as an Action Movie?
…nal Man of Mystery’ BeST oF 2 WoRlds @gmoney62472: I’m sorry but comparing Rambo to James Bond is like comparing a Killer Bee to a Scoripion. Boris Novak @BorisNovak: That’s one tough decision, because all the Bond movies are great! Bruce Aaron Cambosos @brucerockac: has to be Casino Royale. Has as much action as the classics while bringing something new to the table: real emotion content. CandiedWalnuts(Band) @CandiedWalnuts: I loved Quantum of S… Continue reading

The Thing (1982) vs. The Thing (2011)
…ve, someone I’d refer to as ‘realistically badass.’ She didn’t suddenly go Rambo on the aliens and know how to do Wing Chun. She just stayed calm, used her head, picked up a flame thrower and torched some alien ass. The Paranoia: A core part of The Thing is the paranoia it causes. Again, both films portray the paranoia well with everyone not trusting anyone and always turning on each other. For the audience, though, 1982 version kept things more o… Continue reading
