Bloodsport (1988): You Just Got Van Dammed!
…ort should be called because this ’80s action classic features Jean-Claude Van Damme kicking an astonishing amount of ass. This action classic stars JCVD as Frank Dux, alongside eighties mainstays such as Donald Gibb, Leah Ayres, and Bolo Yeung. Van Damme (Dux) enters the most brutal, illegal, any-freakin’-thing-goes, martial arts fighting tournament called the Kumite (pronounced KOO-MAH-TAY). His ultimate opponent is Chong Li (Yeung). Li has been… Continue reading

Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2010) Out Today
…Universal Soldier movie (or third if you only count those with Jean-Claude Van Damme) comes out on video today. Courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Action Flick Chick Katrina got to give away some videos this weekend. She decided to award them through twitter based on answers to the following question: @actionchick: UNIVERSAL SOLDIER TRIVIA: What is Deveraux’s code number? What is it a reference to? Do you want Blu-ray or DVD? The winner… Continue reading

Double Team (1997)
…ble Team! It is action gold of the ‘so bad it’s awesome’ kind. Jean-Claude Van Damme teams up with DENNIS RODMAN to take down Mickey Rourke! Throw in a lot of explosions, Rodman with ridiculous clothing and constantly changing hair, and a random-ass tiger and you’ve been Double Teamed! This film won three Razzie awards for Worst Supporting Actor (Rodman), Worst New Star (also Rodman) and Worst Screen Couple (Rodman and Van Damme). That’s how aweso… Continue reading

Cyborg (1989): Lots of Questions, Not Much Cyborg
One of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s earliest films, Cyborg features splits, kicks, and staring contests. A little known skill of Van Damme’s, he sometimes challenges the enemy to a staring contest, and sometimes he stares off into the void as if he’s taking on something/someone no one else can see. Good work! In Cyborg, humans have nearly been wiped out by a global plague (hmm, I think we can relate) and data for the cure has to make it safely from NY… Continue reading

Independent Film: Evil Things (2009) – Is That That Van?
…off being stalked by a van, so I have come to call this film “Is That That Van?” The film is a slow starter, but what do you expect when you are being stalked by a van? It’s not like it can just follow you anywhere, you kinda have to stick to the roads and parking lots. The ending does give you a little bit of a creep out factor, though. Check out the trailer to see if “Is That That Van?” suits you! This is the Action Flick Chick, and you’ve just… Continue reading
