Which DC Comics’ New 52 is Your Favorite?

The biggest news in comics lately has been DC’s ‘New 52′ where they reboot their comic universe by restarting the issues at #1 and alter their characters’ histories. Though some of the alterations have made for new and interesting story ideas (Ahem, Wonder Woman) some of the changes have been less than well-received, and one of the forerunners of the upsetting changes is the fact that Barbara Gordon/Batgirl has regained the use of her legs and is no longer wheelchair bound. There have been many other changes the audience didn’t find favorable, but what are some of the positive things about the reboot?

The New 52 was supposed to bring in new readers and I know of one person in particular that it definitely worked on…me! I’ve read a good chunk of the New 52 and have enjoyed many of them. My favorite so far would have to be Birds of Prey! I love the art and the tough, fully clothed characters and can’t wait for the next issue to come out. So I want to know which ones are your favorites and why?

  1. You can’t go wrong with Batman, Detective Comics or Action Comics, but my favorite gas to be Swamp Thing. I really look forward to this book and put it on the top of my stack the week it comes out.

  2. My favorite so far by far is Detective Comics. I love how dark it’s gotten and the curve ball that it threw at the end of issue 1 with what happened to The Joker.

  3. Scott Snyder’s Batman. It’s so dark, but the writing is excellent and the art is beautiful.

Animal Man, Demon Knights, Justice League Dark, and Swamp Thing are my favorites. They’re on the fringe of the super hero universe and I eagerly await each new issue. They can’t come out fast enough for me.

I’ll start with my favorite: Justice League Dark, hands down a great read so far and we get some of D.C.s Magic/Supernatural types in one book and Mikel Janin and Peter Milligan are a great pairing there isn’t even a team yet but the build to seeing how these outside heroes ake on evil such as The Enchantress is an exciting one.
Let me also mention Batwing is really enjoyable,I came in thinking pretty art and, oh, a Black Panther hero in the DCU? Nope,a cop in a corruptable surrounding not knowing who to trust and trying to save his people from each other. Also the fact that Winnick shows us that there is more than one hero in Africa was a pleasant surprise,I really hope DC does something with these heros

I’m enjoying Action, Batman, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Wonder Woman and yes evenCatwomanis a great read

‘Action Comics’ is awesome!!! So cool to see a fresh take on Superman!!! I really like everything about the young man of Steel. ‘Green Lanturn’ is feeling good with Hal and Sinestro teamed up. I’m hoping ‘Caption Atom’ keeps progressing. I enjoyed how they have made Captian Atom more like Dr. Manhattan (Even through he was originally inspired by Atom). I loved Dr. Manhattan in Watchman and this series looks like it’s going to head in a very interesting direction.

Batman, Batman & Robin, Batwing and Batwoman are my favorite bat series. I’m
Waiting for Detective comics to get better, Nightwing shows promise.

I like how the new Superboy is more like Akira. Crazy power he doesn’t fully understand yet. This could be a very interesting story. The art work however is a little too cartoony for my taste however. But the writing is good keeling me interested.

Supergirl is kicking ass in the two books she’s got out. That’s always fun. With Superman also making appearances.

Justice League is shaping up nice. Can’t wait for the next issue.

Green Lanturns new Gaurdians has a nice twist going from issue #2 looking to see how that unfolds.

I liked Flash issue 2! He’s learning how to think faster. Use his brain in the speed force. That was very cool.

Things are happening. I’m loving the new 52!!!

Just remembered that I’m also enjoying Red Lanterns. Almost makes me want a red power ring, without the heart-will-stop-beating-if-taken-off ability.

  8. Rick says:

Birds of Prey has been my favorite, too! It’s nice to see I’m not alone. I think there’s a lot of people who disliked it before it was even published due to Babs no longer being Oracle. It’s such a fun book. The action is a bit goofy, and I love it. Canary’s always been one of my favorite DC characters from the O’Neil/Adams Green Lantern/Green Arrow days through Mike Grell’s work and beyond! Birds of Prey has definitely been one of the most accessible new titles. I had no idea who Starling was and I’ve been reading DC comics for a long time (including the original Birds off and on), but I absolutely love her. Katana I was familiar with from Outsiders but never really cared about. So far, she’s awesome too lol. Up next: Poison Ivy woohoo!

Other members of my current top 5 are Nightwing, Swamp Thing, Action Comics, and Justice League Dark.

  9. jeff says:

I’m liking Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and Deathstroke because they are all a widescreen action movie.

  10. Maria says:

Absolute favorite is Batgirl. I’m a new reader, so I wasn’t upset by the switch from her being Oracle (though I understand why people aren’t happy about it). It’s just so amazing. I feel like I really know her.

Second favorite is Aquaman. Never really liked him before – but I’m now a huge fan.

After that comes Birds of Prey, Justice League Dark, and Supergirl. Loving the art of Batwoman, and starting to get the hang of the story.

  11. leia says:

birds of prey, really? that’s the most…bubblegum pop of all the issues. i literally expect them to be like the powerpuff girls and shout girl power, but in a gimmicky not fun type of way.

to each their own. i much prefer the darker, more serious titles that the dc52 has to offer. i like to useth my brain as i read XD
