“I Ain’t a Judas” is the slowest episode in season three of AMC’s The Walking Dead. After the amazing season they’ve had so far it’s rather disappointing to have an episode like this, but hopefully it’s setting up for the rest of the season to be filled with excitement. So what did this episode accomplish? Well, one thing it definitely managed to do is push me over the edge and into “Andrea must die” territory. I’ve held onto the hope and get back to being more of a badass, less of a dumbass, but I’ve had enough. Lately it seems like the walkers have more brains than she does.
Before we get further into the recap, let’s check with Dale.
Thanks, Dale. Now, onward, to the recap!
Andrea decides to visit the prison after she sees The Gov gathering up an army. Instead of just going, she decides to announce to The Gov’s right hand man, Milton, what she’s doing and asks for his help. Naturally, he goes behind her back and tattles on her, but The Gov decides not to do anything. At the prison, she defends Guv’s action and tries to blame everything on Merle in a desperate bid to get the prison group to join her at Woodbury. AAAHHHHH! If her purpose this season is too make viewers scream in frustration at the TV, mission accomplished.
Michonne tries to talk sense into her by telling her the final few nasty details about the Governor that Andrea didn’t already know, but they don’t seem to sink in. Carol implores Andrea to pull a femme fatale and have sex with The Gov, then kill him in his sleep. It seemed like they at least got her to think about some of these things…as she drives back to Woodbury. Yes, she’s choosing to stay in Woodbury.
Tyreese and his group find their way to crazytown, which seems like a cozy place to this quartet of tired, uninformed folks. The Gov puts on his fake, nice face and offers them rainbows and unicorns. It comes out that Tyreese came from the prison and that they know the layout of Rick’s camp. They offer to help The Gov fight the prison group if they can stay on in Woodbury. NOOOOO! Tyreese is one of the few good people on this show, and I really don’t want him to fall in with this bad crowd. Plus, Tyreese’s crew is just another bullet in The Governor’s ammo pile against Rick. Sure, Rick’s group has the Spartan-like advantage of being smaller, but having better experience and positioning, but how will that fare against superior numbers and equipment?
The episode ends with Andrea getting a knife out and thinking about killing The Gov while he sleeps, but she can’t go through with it. Ultimately, we all know Rick should be the one to kill The Gov, but it’s frustrating seeing Andrea think about it, then not do it. Maybe that seed of doubt will grow bigger and get her to not trust…who am I kidding. When he finally turns and slits her throat, her last words will be “Just what do you think you’re doing?”
