Star Trek (2009) was awesome!! It started with action and it hardly stopped, and yet the sequel looks ready to outgun it. The Japanese version of the trailer (at bottom) has just enough extra footage to punch fans of the old movies right in the gut. Enjoy!
But…is it still really Star Trek? Has J. J. Abrams soared Trek to new heights or scuttled the franchise?

Star Trek could be action packed, sure.. but much like taking spy movies like Bond and turning them into Rambo fests in suits: I thought Abram’s Star Trek was TERRIBLE.
If in describing a Star Trek movie as being awesome the main selling point is “It was full of action” — that’s not what I look for as the main selling point in a Star Trek film.
Then again, I’m not a J.J. Abrams fan in the first place so that could just be bias.
I don’t get what is going on at all. WHO is back? Why should I care? What’s going on? We had one movie… what with this someone that had returned? Doesn’t look like anyone from the first film.
Scuttled.
