- When Arnold was being chased by the pack of wild dogs in Conan the Barbarian, the dogs actually jumped on him, making him fall off the rocks that he was climbing. He suffered a back injury and several other injuries from the fall.
- Arnold experienced his first romantic scene in this movie. Sandahl Bergmann was the lucky lady to break him in.
- Thorgrim, one of Conan’s leading foes, was actually played by one of Arnold’s really good friends and fellow bodybuilder, Sven-Ole Thorsen.
- Arnold actually had to tone down his workouts. His arms were too big to swing the sword around.
- Arnold keeps the sword used in the movie in his Governor’s office in California.
- John Milius had originally planned for the narration to be done by Arnold, but the studio didn’t trust his accent. Mako did the narration instead.
