- Arnold turned down an offer to do a Predator sequel because he didn’t like the script. He decided to do Terminator 2: Judgment Day instead.
- Arnold once stated, “I took more abuse in Predator (1987) than I did in Conan the Barbarian (1982). I fell down that waterfall [40 feet] and swam in this ice-cold water for days and for weeks was covered in mud. It was freezing in the Mexican jungle. They had these heat lamps on all the time, but they were no good. If you stayed in front of the lamps, the mud dried. Then, you had to take it off and put new mud on again. It was a no-win situation. The location was tough. Never on flat ground. Always on a hill. We stood all day long on a hill, one leg down, one leg up. It was terrible.”
- An attempt was made to get shots of the Predator swinging from tree to tree using a monkey in a red special-effects suit. However, the monkey kept removing the suit and the idea was abandoned.
- The black helicopter pilot seen at the end of the movie is Kevin Peter Hall, the actor who plays the Predator.
- The predator’s blood – a goopy substance with the color of Mountain Dew – was made on-set using a mixture of the liquid from inside glow sticks, and KY jelly.
- The body count in the movie Predator? 64!

More PREDATOR trivia!!!
-Jean Claude Van Damme was originally hired to wear the Predator suit and walk on stilts to make him look like a giant but Van Damme couldn’t pull it off and Kevin Peter Hall was hired instead. It’s rumored that some of the early shots of the Predator in cloaked form is actually Van Damme (aka “failed monkey-in-suit attempt #2”)!
-Kevin Peter Hall also portrayed a giant alien who hunts people for trophies (using gross frisbee-creature weapons) in the 1980 sci-fi/horror film IT CAME WITHOUT WARNING. It’s said that WARNING was one of the original inspirations for the movie PREDATOR. For more information on WARNING and to watch in online, go here… http://www.smalltowncritic.com/?p=2458
