Horror film American Mary follows a med student, Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle) as she explores interesting… and often unethical options to make money. Med school has her completely broke, and this girl’s got bills to pay, so she starts practicing surgeries a bit sooner than she expected. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on in the trailer, but it looks freaky, and could potentially have some cerebral horror to it, so I’m interested. It was written by the Soska Sisters, Jen and Sylvia, who also wrote the indie hit Dead Hooker in a Trunk and will hit theaters according to iTunes, May 31, 2013.

I saw this at FrightFest back in August and loved it. The trailer’s pretty misleading; it’s really more of a dark comedy (emphasis on the dark) than horror but well worth catching.
