For Christmas, numerous artists and a few self-proclaimed non-artists drew their own renditions of the Action Flick Chick’s action chick avatar. Several of them are particularly outstanding, and we’ll feature them more prominently in a post here sometime soon. For now, though, you can find them collected in an album on Facebook.
This past Thursday our favorite cigar-chomping, gun-toting bird made an appearance in a webcomic we love, The Legend of Bill by David Reddick. If you saw it in black and white on Thursday, you should revisit the page now that Reddick has colored the strip. We’ve truly loved every single rendition of the bird, and this one does a particularly fine job of capturing all the qualities of the avatar as originally created by Rocket Llama artist Nick Langley while giving it the flair of The Legend of Bill creator Reddick’s own style.
The cameo is just great. The Chick is already set to appear as a rare card in the WAGON Webcomic Card Battle game (“WAGON Webcomic Battle – Action Flick Chick Uber PWNage Power”) and she will appear in Rocket Llama sometime, however this counts as her first actual appearance in a webcomic.
ABOUT Legend of Bill: Legend of Bill is about wannabe barbarian Bill and his best pal Frank the blue dragon, who, unsatisfied with their mundane lives as file clerk interns in the local castle accounting department, decide to set off for adventure in the free-as-a-bird life of a roaming barbarian and his dragon… and man are THEY in for a big wake-up call!!! Along the way, they meet Princess Gina, a tough as nails warrior princess on a mission, the Dark Queen, who has a thing for Bill, and a gob more oddball characters on their shameless quest for adventure!
In the present storyline, the Dark Queen Vasheeva has switched bodies with Princess Gina, who’s now sifting through the Queen’s bazillion outfits trying to find something more sensible to wear, which gives creator Reddick the opportunity to have some fun paying tribute to other webcomics via outfits (e.g., the shirt references 1977 the Comic) or, as in the Chick’s case, simply through background.
So check out The Legend of Bill. It’s an entertaining comic and our little birdie is proud to pay it a visit – despite the scene’s notable lack of gunfire. 😉
This is the Action Flick Chick, and you’ve just been kicked in the ass.
