I just saw the best trailer ever when I went to see Avatar. It was a trailer for the coming attraction PIRANHA 3-D!!! I have to say that it looks horrendous, but I’m thinking it has the potential to be horrendously awesome. That’s the hope! Piranha 3-D was written, directed, and produced by Alexandre Aja. This is yet another remake of the 1978 film Piranha, but this time it’s in 3-D, so that makes it all okay, right?
A tremor in the ground opens up a crack in the floor of a lake releasing a metric-butt ton of hungry, blood thirsty piranha! Of course, it happens during the time when the lake needs to be on its best behavior…July 4th weekend. So the lake is packed with human sticks for the piranha to feed on. And the best part is that this is in 3-D. Trailers can be very misleading and often times shows you the best parts of the movie, but I have to say, I am looking forward to this flick. It looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun. You know, the stupid, horrible kind of fun .
Starring in Piranha 3-D are Elizabeth Shue, Steven McQueen, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell, Sage Ryan, and Brooklynn Proulx. Oh and Eli Roth plays a wet t-shirt contest emcee. It looks so friggin’ horrible that I just have to see it. It was had that same Jaws “Don’t go in the water!” vibe to it. Plus, you know there is only one thing that can beat a piranha…piranha bullets (look under best kill)!!! Hell yes! Anyone up for a little game of piranha cannibalism? Piranha 3-D is set to be released April 16, 2010. I have yet to find a trailer on the internet. It was just released as a trailer before Avatar 3-D. I’ll keep you posted.

for real? Cameron’s first big movie was Piranha 2, which had FLYING PIRANHAS, and I think it was released in 3-D.

There was actually APPLAUSE after this trailer aired when I saw it. I am SO seeing this. We may have to actually get together and see this, ha ha! This is already my first entry for best movie of 2010.
