Even though The Thirst is the third film in The Lost Boys series, many fans consider it to be the first true sequel to the original film. It brought back all the things we loved about the first one: The Frog brothers, silly dialogue, and vampires! Oh and don’t forget the creepy but awesome song that has been in every Lost Boys film: Cry Little Sister. Just like how Corey Feldman will never get away from the role of Edgar Frog, these films will never get away from that song. I don’t mind though, it’s to the point where a Lost Boys film would be blasphemy and suck balls if it didn’t include Feldman and Cry Little Sister.
Of course, The Thirst isn’t nearly as good as the original; after all, the original was, well, an original, and had a lot of recognizable actors in it. The Thirst is a very solid sequel though. It delivered in every way that Feldman said it would when I talked to him. There are lots of big weapons, lots of gore, and decent action. It’s fun and has a plenty of those cheesy lines we all love. You also get to see Feldman’s hair when it isn’t greased up. Can you handle that?
Beware: Spoilers Below!
Time Until Action Starts: ~ 2 minutes
Baddies: “All the damn vampires!”
Best Line: “It turns holy water into holy slaughter!”
Best Human Kill: A big boy vampire punches through Lars’ (Steven van Niekerk) chest. You see a huge vampire hand come out the back of Lars, holding his heart, and then the vampire rips through Lars’ chest again as he pulls his hand out. Juicy!
Best Vampire Kill: Edgar (Feldman) and his friends are being attacked by a group of vampires. One vampire sticks her head in the window and says, “Aren’t you going to invite me in?” Edgar says, “No!” He then pulls her through the window, presses a cross on her face, flips it in the air and stakes her with the other end.
Action Rating: 2 ½ Super Frog Bros, out of 5.
