VH1’s Scream Queens’ executive producers Joke Fincioen and Biagio Messina have a new documentary out called Dying to Do Letterman. A title has never been so accurate of a description as this one. Steve Mazan was 12 years old when he decided his life long dream was to perform stand up comedy on the Late Show with David Letterman. It’s easy to make plans to accomplish things in the future, but for Steve, his future was cut shorter than usual when he was diagnosed with cancer that might take his life in five years. Watch Steve’s courageous journey as he tries to accomplish his life long dream while knowing that time was running out.
I usually like to keep my articles revolving around some kind of action, but Dying to Do Letterman is such an inspirational and emotional story that everyone should hear about it. It’s the kind of film that puts life into perspective and makes you feel like you need to go for your dream instead of waiting to do it later. Plus, there is a real life action scene in the documentary.
Dying to Do Letterman has received such positive response that it has been invited by the International Documentary Association to qualify for an Academy Award! The film is currently playing at the IFC Center in New York August 26 to September 1, and then in Los Angeles at the Sunset Laemmle 5 from September 2 to September 8. Make sure to catch it if you’re in the area.
As of right now, Joke and Biagio are running a Kickstarter campaign to raise enough money to qualify for an Oscar. Help get Steve’s story out there!
