The Hudson tunnel is exacting revenge for tunnels everywhere! They are tired of being driven through and are taking a stand! In Daylight, the Hudson tunnel collapses, killing a ton of people and trapping many more. There’s no way out so Kit (Sylvester Stallone), a former emergency medical services chief, goes in to try to help. As if explosions weren’t enough revenge for the tunnel, it also starts to flood from the river water. Who will win: the Hudson tunnel or Stallone?
Daylight is a surprisingly interesting flick, with a high level of intensity and very tight pace throughout. Basically, once the tunnel decides to trap everyone, the action doesn’t stop. Explosions, stuff collapsing, and flooding! This film has one of the best explosions I’ve seen too! It also plays on the old heart strings by throwing in some really sad scenes…and a dog. You know there will be some human casualties but whether the dog survives a movie is always the most important thing.
Best Explosion: This is one freakin’ fantastic explosion! In the middle of the Hudson tunnel, a car crashes into another carrying an explosive toxin. One explosion happens, then another, then another, and it just follows down the whole tunnel. The fire fills every space and engulfs every car until it funnels out the end! Then as a great finale, there’s one last huge explosion once the fire reaches the end of the tunnel and hits the open air! Talk about icing on the explosive toxin cake!
Action Rating: 5 Angry Tunnels, out of 5

I watched part of this the other day on Starz….it had been a long while since I seen it. Not the best Stallone action movie but not too bad….there is only so much you can do in a tunnel.
Not a bad flick as disaster films go. But on the downside, like you said, Stallone’s name is Kit (!) What is that short for, Kitten? Talk about ill-fitting…might as well have called him Brenda.
