Coming Attraction: God Bless America!

God Bless America seems like it could stir up some controversy considering it’s about ordinary guy Frank (Joel Murray) going around killing people who annoy him. Along the way, he picks up a 16 year old accomplice, Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who thinks what he’s doing is awesome and wants to join the party. The part that could cause some uneasiness is the fact that Frank and Roxy aren’t killing villains as we know them, but jerk offs- people who are rude, spoiled, talk/text in the movie theater or take up more than one parking space. It looks like it’ll contain plenty of action…but I don’t know if it’ll be the fun kind of action this chick likes to watch. It is intriguing though. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself! God Bless America is available for digital viewing now.

I kind of like the idea of a media project that does exactly what so many of us want to do in our deepest, darkest hearts. Not that any of us would act on it, but seeing it acted out on screen allows us to confront a part of our own humanity that wants to smack people in public for bad behavior.

  2. Doug Puthoff says:

Reminds of the 1980s comic book “Badger.” Only Badger didn’t shoot people who were doing such annoying things as not filling out the check until the get to the register. He just gave them Karate chops.

And isn’t this a similar premise to the Michael Douglas movie “Falling Down.”

  3. G.H. says:

The movie screened at the Atlanta Film Festival at the end of March. An acquaintance of mine saw it and said it was “cathartic” but also a bit “preachy” at points. It did sound a bit like the old Michael Douglas movie “Falling Down” with a few twists to it.

  4. Jaskee says:

I thought the movie was decent, but it was also a bit too preachy and not as outrageous as I thought it was going to be.

  5. Jungle Jim says:

I was going to rent it someday on Neflix just to see how he got the guy who took up 2 parking spots,(my pet peeve) but there it was at the end of the trailer so…. this was fun, but I’m satisfied with the trailer alone…. next!

Any killing spree that starts with whacking a spoiled-brat reality TV star can’t be all bad. 😉
