Cinemax Femme Fatales Season 2 Red Carpet

Actress Madison Dylan (left) shares her excitement with guest writer Elizabeth Ann (right) on the red carpet for Cinemax's Femme Fatales season 2.

Cinemax’s Friday night darling Femme Fatales had a delightfully sexy red carpet premiere at the Arclight Theatre in Hollywood on Monday. Many of the series sensual stars were in attendance, along with show runners Mark A. Altman and Steve Kriozere. Having recently interviewed some of the cast, it was a pleasure to attend the red carpet, screening, and celebration.

The screening presented two season 2 episodes: “Gun Crazy” with guest Antonio Sabato, Jr. and “Trophy Wife” with guests Chris Mulkey and Leliani Sarrell. Both episodes fit nicely into the world of Cuesta Verde, where all the Femme Fatales live. Neither stands out as outside the box; however, later episodes of the season, “Bad Science” and “Libra,” bring sci-fi and superheroes into the mix, respectively. If you enjoyed the first season, the second promises to continue to give you what you want: thriller stories, full of strong women, and that erotic content that Cinemax made its name for.

The actual red carpet was shorter than expected, thus photographers and reporters were squished and squeezed together in order to capture the arrivals of each guest. With limited time to chat, I mainly hit them with two questions: What is your favorite thing about being a Femme Fatale? And what is your favorite method for getting back at someone who has wronged you?

  • Scheana Marie:
“I get to be extra crazy!”
“To wrong them how they wronged me.”
  • Jennifer Roa :
“All the women are strong, kick butt women as focal point is new. Great to be a part of that movement.”
“The best kind of punishment is the one where no one sees it coming.”
  • Leilani Sarelle :
“I respond to the film noir-ish idea of being a femme fatale. My favorite role in any movie, To Have or Have Not, Lauren Bacall- she kicked ass.”
“Lying! (laughs) Really thrilling and fun!”
  • Sadie Alexandru :
“I love being powerful! The show uses sensuality and sexuality in a way that was really fun for us as actresses.”
“I dunno, I don’t think I’m very aggressive. I think you’ve just got to move on.”
  • Tiffany Brouwer:
“You get to kick butt. You get to be the one that survives. You get to be evil.”
“Characterwise, she would throw some supernatural muscle at the wrongdoer.”
  • Raymond Forchion:
(Only asked the second question regarding method of revenge) “I’m a big believer in karma- can walk away and the universe will be on my side.”
  • Ashley Noel:
    “It was empowering. So fun.”
“I would say sheer female intelligence can really take down a man- don’t underestimate the smart girl.”
  • Nikki Griffin:
    “I love that a woman’s in power!”
“I’m not really much on the revenge front. I think that happiness is the best revenge. That’s the way to show someone that you just don’t care.”
  • Catherine Annette:
    “Killing people.”
(Her chosen method is pure torture- for reference, see Charlie O’Connell’s characters death in “Girls Gone Dead”)
  • Madison Dylan:
“To be a woman empowered, that’s able to take advantage of guys!”
“To play very stupid, ditzy, but then I get to come back and spark the whole meanness inside!”

I asked Catherine Annette who is truly the mastermind, her character Tiffany or Madison Dylan’s Alexis? Her response was that they were probably equal but Tiffany has more “control because she is smart enough to keep her hands clean, leaving others to take the fall for her crimes.” Both characters return in the second season. Madison Dylan admitted in our previous interview to recently becoming a geek, so I asked her who her favorite superhero is. Iron Man won out, but Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk came in a close second. Nikki Griffin who appears later in season two, claims Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Spike as her favorite vampire and dreams of becoing part of a Joss Whedon project in the future. Leilani Sarelle was thrilled to chat with Action Flick Chick because one of her personal goals is to play butt-kicking women; she recently completed work on Relentless Justice where her character seeks revenge on her daughter’s kidnapper… oh, and she just happens to be a former mercenary. Because Ray Forchion was the only gentleman I grabbed, I skipped the Femme Fatale question and asked if his character got what he deserved. “I don’t think so. But it gets pretty rough.” The entire cast shared their excitement over Femme Fatales second season.

Season 2 premieres at 11pm on Cinemax this Friday, May 25, 2012.
