Being Human 3-3: The Secret Ingredient to Looking Younger is…

Being Human

Anyone looking for the secret ingredient to looking younger has to look no further. Syfy’s Being Human episode this week, “The Teens They are a Changing,” gives us the recipe, free of charge. All you need is some witchcraft and a ghost. That should be easy, right? The roommates go on separate adventures this week, each having a big issue to deal with amongst their own species. Vampires Aidan and Henry deal with the undead AIDS epidemic, Sally finds a ghost to play with, and Josh and Nora adopt a young wolf.

Remember how the last episode ended on a cliffhanger as  to whether or not Nora was still alive? Well, that gets resolved immediately. This week episode opens with her and Liam talking on a bench about the same old stuff, getting revenge for dead sons and turning into werewolves, blah blah blah. She returns home to fill Josh in about the situation, but neither of them seems to think it’s important to tell Aidan- you know, the guy who actually killed Conner and who will be at the business end of Liam’s wolf teeth if he finds out. Instead they turn their attention to adopting a newly werewolf-ified teen girl who will turn when night hits. Does Boston have a higher number of full moons than everywhere else?

Nora and Josh’s different values are causing a rift between them- Josh has always only wanted to be normal, but Nora loves the wolf and wants to embrace it. When Erin, soon to be teen wolfie, shows up, their values are once again at odds. Josh considers putting Erin down like mangy mutt while Nora sees herself in the girl and wants to help her through her first change. They take to the woods when it’s changing time, and Josh packs some heat just in case Erin’s wolf gets out of control. She goes wild for a minute, but in a very anticlimactic scene, Wolf Nora and Teen Wolf hug it out, realizing they’re family now, while Josh watches impotently. Now that he’s not in the club anymore, will he deal with it, or will it cause him and Nora to splitski?

Aidan continues his hunt for blood that won’t give him the flu aids. After each dead end, Henry becomes more unhinged and crazy from hunger. Aidan gives a lot of pep talks throughout the episode- just about every scene has Aidan telling Henry he’ll fix it and to stay strong. Aidan goes as far as to ask Josh to screen patients at the hospital for him. Josh finds the hungry vamps one guy who probably isn’t infected with the flu-AIDS, but it’s too late. Henry couldn’t hold out any longer, went on a binge, and now he’s infected. As his condition worsens, Aidan deals out more pep talks. Dude, just let it go already. Just like the audience, Henry’s tired of listening to Aidan blab on and takes to the street to die his way. I can’t say I blame you, Henry.

Sally freaks out about Trent’s death, and decides that she has to help Ghost Trent find his door. As it turns out, Trent has a fiancé whom he failed to mention while he was making out with Sally. If he can tell his fiancé about his Sally excursion and apologize, his conscience will be cleared, poofing his door into existence. Sally tells the fiancé at the memorial service, but it backfires- the fiancé is just relieved because she’s been cheating on Trent for over a year, a fact which makes Trent feel like dog poop. He tells Sally to get lost, but his door pops up anyways. When he walks through it though, he walks into Witchy-poo’s kitchen where she takes a butcher knife to him and turns him to ectoplasmic ashes. She then chows down on his remains and becomes revitalized, looking decades younger. Poor Trent, just when I was starting to like the guy he became witch food. How’s Sally going to feel if she ever finds out about this?

Things are looking rather grim for Sally and Aidan. Will Sally be able to live on in her body with Witchy-poo going behind her and eating the ghosts of people Sally’s killed? And Aidan! It seems there’s no hope for him finding clean blood unless he resorts to some unmentionable things like baby-drinking.
