May Mega Mayhem: Shinobi!

Day #25: Shinobi!

General Thoughts: Shinobi is a PS2 game where demons have attacked Tokyo, and you’re a ninja tasked with stopping them. You don’t get much of an explanation of the controls… or explanation of anything for that matter. It just drops you in the middle of a big pile o’ demon ninja dudes and you’re left to figure it out through trial and error. My understanding is that this game gets incredibly frustrating later on. However, I got too frustrated early on to even make it to the ‘frustrating part’ and I don’t believe I will try to, either.

31 Minutes of Play: I started out in the first level with my ninja sword a-swinging. I sliced and diced a bunch of demon ninjas, and a demon tank, or several tanks to be more specific. It was pretty cool to see a tank just split in half from a sword cutting it down the middle. Another thing that was cool to watch was when you killed an enemy, they froze for a few seconds before falling apart with blood spurting everywhere. However, enemies kept pouring in and attacking me from all directions, and the camera was caught in an earthquake or something and wouldn’t stop moving around. I got to the first boss and, after being killed by gunfire coming at me from off-screen, I said screw it.

Fun Rating: 2 Soul Sucking Swords, out of 5!
