Caprica: Before the Summer Blockbusters, Revisit Galactica (Movie Chicks on Action Flicks #0)

We’re getting a lot of review link exchange requests. A number come from people we like, people we really want to promote.  While there’s plenty of space available in the sidebars, content in a filled sidebar can get ignored. Several who brought this up are talking about the summer movies. With X-Men Origins: Wolverine barking at our heels, the summer blockbuster season has already begun. So what to do, what to do . . .

What to do: We’re going to add a section, Movie Chicks on Action Flicks. It’s an oversimplified name because it can include any genre (science fiction, fantasy, horror, thriller, adventure) that tends to be action-packed. You won’t see Sex and the City 2: Social and Secure in that section. While we gauge interest and find out exactly how many female reviewers (that’s right, women bloggers and other lethal ladies skewering movies with their film critiques) really want in on this. So for just a little while, we’re going to put each of these posts right here.

We’re kicking this off with something that’s not actually a theatrical release. It offered a handy example of how these entries will look because it’s what some of our friends have most recently reviewed. Any of you women with reviews of the Caprica pilot are more than welcome to submit yours via comment box below (see examples for necessary information). Reviews of other films can be submitted in comments on the Movie Chicks page as soon as it’s listed in the navigation bar between Allies and Top Secret.
So check out these reviews of Caprica, the DVD release of the pilot episode for a Battlestar Galactica prequel/sequel/spinoff television series.
Please note: The layout will look a little different for theatrical releases, with box office results included.

Thanks so much for posting a link to my Caprica pilot review! This new section for Movie Chicks on Action Flicks is a superb idea! I can’t wait to meet other chicks with like-minded appreciation for action/ sci-fi/ fantasy/ anything-that-kicks-ass!

Can we post reviews for foreign films as well? Is there interest in that?

We will absolutely be interested in reviews for foreign films. Without the East, the world of action films would be far tinier. For the time being though, we have had some technical issues to work out on features already in development (like the Video Vault and the Movie Chicks on Action Flicks page) that we want to get running as smoothly as we envision before we broaden our horizons even further. Half a dozen features that are “in development” won’t help our crediblity. That’s our problem, not yours.

Since the main link exchanges people have been asking us about lately concern this summer’s blockbusters, that’s the place for us to strike first.

    Thanks! And best wishes.

Alrighty then. I’ll save some of the Hong Kong action films for when the section is up and running. I’ve just posted a reply with a link to my Wolverine review.

Caprica is by far the coolest s*** TV has had to offer in awhile. Not to say I have lacked entertainment from the likes of ‘Whitest Kids U’Know’ and the new Kids in The Hall mystery, but everyone craves a little sci-fi fantasy drama everynow and then!! Yes, YOU, don’t lie,no worries… I am not judging you. Wrapping it up, Caprica delivers. Get in there (all nice and deep like), and I promise, it will not dissapoint!!
