TV Series Falling Skies (2011): Where’s Chicken Little When You Need Him?

Note: There are no spoilers.

Get ready for television series that is not a reality show and doesn’t suck (so far as I’ve seen)! Falling Skies is an upcoming science fiction show that starts in the aftermath of an alien invasion. Yes! It’s quite refreshing to see an alien apocalypse instead of zombies. When you really think about it, between the a zombie or an alien apocalypse, which one is more likely to happen? I personally think it’s going to be an alien zombie apocalypse. So, the aliens have taken over just about everything, but what human survivors there are left are banding together to fight back. Created by Robert Rodat and Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies is set to have a two hour premier Sunday, June 19, 2011 on TNT at 9pm ET.

The two hour premier reaches out and grabs you by the balls right away. You don’t have to wade through any pre-invasion, foofy-shmoofy people crap. Falling Skies picks up when everything gets real…and good. There is a rather large cast including Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Dale Dye, and Colin Cunningham to name just a few. Tom (Wyle) assists in keeping a group of civilians safe by becoming a resistance fighter. One thing I really like about the premier is that there are hundreds of people in the group of civilians and fighters. This means that there are a LOT of extras. More extras mean more room for casualties! This also makes it suspenseful, because you know almost anyone could die at any time and they would have plenty of others to replace them.

The action in the two hour premier of Falling Skies is impressive. It starts quickly and continues throughout. It looks great and there are females who get in the action as well. When one girl asked to come along a dangerous mission, the immediate answer was “Yes.” None of that “stay and take care of the kids” crap. Bravo!

Looks like this 10 episode season will bring forth lots of action, drama, and something completely original: a teen love triangle. The Falling Skies premier was great, and I am definitely looking forward to the next episode. In fact, it looks like it could be a television show you look forward to watching every week. Mark it on your calendar to make sure you don’t miss it!

This is the Action Flick Chick, and you’ve just been kicked in the ass!

  1. I was kind of on the fence if i would watch this or not. Not that much free time = choosy with what i watch. But you just pushed me off the fence and I landed on the “watch it!” side of the yard.
