AMC’s The Walking Dead Episode 2 Review!

I have been fortunate enough to see the first two episodes of AMC’s upcoming TV series The Walking Dead, which is based on the popular comic book of the same name by Robert Kirkman. I’m pretty freakin’ pumped about this show. As far as I know, it is the first TV series focused on a zombie apocalypse, and from what I’ve seen of the show so far, it could be a fantastic apocalypse indeed.

The first episode introduces you to the main character as he tries to figure out what’s going on. It was more focused on the set up of the whole series instead of the action, so there were a few tiny moments where I was a little bored. That’s why my friend Alex over at Rocket Llama reviewed the first episode more in-depth.

The second episode of The Walking Dead picked up quickly on the action and sucked me in. Already, you find the characters in a bad situation surrounded by zombies trying to find a way out. The scene is dripping with tension… and zombie goo. The zombies look incredible and I’m very surprised The Walking Dead is able to show such a high level of gore on tv. For example, within the first 2 minutes of the first episode you see shots of a dead woman being swarmed by flies. This woman is not made to look pretty either. Right then I knew this show was going to go as balls crazy with the action and gore as they could get away with. So far, I haven’t been disappointed. Only time will tell how good the show is overall. I can’t wait until the third episode airs. Are you looking for a great way to spend Halloween night that doesn’t involve tee-peeing houses or scaring the crap outta the neighbor kids? Now you have something to do because The Walking Dead premieres Sunday, October 31 on AMC. Don’t miss it!

This is the Action Flick Chick, and you’ve just been kicked in the ass!

  3. So…who are the walking dead? The zombies, or the humans?? Muahahaha….

“The Walking Dead” is so much better than other zombie dramas — we’re allowed to have compassion for the walkers. Yes, the zombies are lethal monsters, but they retain just enough humanity for us to remember that they were innocent victims of something horrific. A little girl picks up her teddy bear; a wife and mother has vague, fleeting, and sad memories of her family; the wretched “Bicycle Girl” pleads for Rick’s help; the “Guts” corpse is given a name and identity. These creatures are much more gripping, tragic, and effective than Romero’s mindless, flesh-devouring zombies.
