The Superheroine Monologues

Superheroine_MonologuesDescription: “Beginning in 1940, SUPERHEROINES is a hilarious look at the lives of your favorite comic book heroines through the decades. From Catwoman in the psychedelic ’60s, to Supergirl in the ’80s and Dark Phoenix in the present day, the heroines share what it’s really like to be a woman with super powers. Touching, funny and always campy, these dynamic divas promise to answer questions you never dreamed to ask.”

Approximate Run Time: 2 hours; including one intermission.

We’re not crossing the country to see a single stage show in Boston, but this certainly sounds like something up the Action Flick Chick’s alley.

Directed by Phoenix Theatre Artists’ Artistic Director Greg Maraio, The Superheroine Monologues stars Maureen Adduci, Amanda Good Hennessey, Jackie McCoy, Elizabeth Montigny, Shawna O’Brien, Christine Power, Elizabeth Rimar, Cheryl D. Singleton, and apparently a bunch of guys leering after them.

Here’s a teaser video that doesn’t actually reveal anything except to show which comic book women are featured and that it’s playing in this return engagement through the end of next week.

This next one gives a much better sense of what the show must be like.

Thank you for posting about our show!

The guys in our show actually play several different roles including Superman, Jimmy Olsen, Steve Trevor, Catwoman’s flunkies and other surprises. They work really hard — and get well-deserved ovations from our audiences. It’s easy to think that they are there to leer at us but it’s just not in the script.

Hope we’ll be out your way so you can see it. Thanks again!

Well, will you look at that…I'm kinda interested. Are you going to see it? Is so, please please do tell what it is about.
