Interview: Chica Las Vegas 2010

Llama Mama | May 14, 2010

Last spring MarQ (@actionchick’s twitpal @swiv) interviewed Action Flick Chick Katrina, discussing 2009’s upcoming summer movies for the Somewhere in Vegas podcast on Blog Talk Radio. This week Katrina revisited Somewhere in Vegas to talk about recent releases Iron Man 2  and A Nightmare on Elm Street, what’s coming up for summer of 2010, and the wild year she’s had in [...]

Best Superheroine Movie? Round 1

Llama Mama | April 15, 2010

While preparing for July’s upcoming San Diego Comic-Con International panel (“Where Are the Action Chicks?” starring Katrina Hill, Jill Pantozzi, Adrianne Curry, Jennifer Stuller, a certain stuntwoman we adore, and somebody to surprise you all), our heroine posed a question on Facebook and twitter. She already knew her own answer but wondered how others would view the [...]

Coming Attraction: Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

Action Flick Chick | April 5, 2010

Zombies beware! Alice (Milla Jovovich) is coming back to kick some zombie ass in the fourth installment of the video game based Resident Evil series.

Ultraviolet (2006): The Monster You Don’t Want Knocking Down Your Door

Action Flick Chick | February 25, 2010

As I’ve said before, Milla Jovovich is one hot lady. But she’s not just a hot lady, she does her share of kicking ass as well. Last year I inducted her into Chicks Who Don’t Want Flowers for Valentine’s Day for her role in Resident Evil. She’s so awesome that she is being added to the category again for her role in Ultraviolet.

Best Romantic Action Movie?

Action Flick Chick | December 26, 2009

Crank_2_High_Voltage_stripclubshootout

Philip Guest (@MediaTwin) asked what my “favourite romantic/action movie” was. My pick:
@actionchick: Crank: High Voltage (a.k.a. Crank 2)
@actionchick then solicited your thoughts on the matter. As usual, a wide variety of answers emerged, including some that are not action movies (e.g., Shaun of the Dead – having some action does not make it an action movie), some [...]

Twitter Talk with Tweets from a Beauty Who Married a Brady: Which Celebs to Follow?

Llama Mama | December 9, 2009

Adrianne Curry on WoW

“How the hell do you have so many followers?”
On twitter as @actionchick, Action Flick Chick Katrina frequently gets asked that question in one form or another. It’s a hard one to answer, especially since the true underlying question for many who ask it is “How can I get a huge following?”
Well, it’s too late for you [...]

Action Heroine versus Horror Heroine – What’s the Diff?

Action Flick Chick | November 28, 2009

Notice that it’s horror heroine and not horror chick. A film can have a sorority’s worth of horror chicks, but only one horror chick gets to be the Final Girl, that heroine who outlasts all the rest.
Our action heroine Action Flick Chick under her codename @actionchick raised the issue in twitter.
actionchick: action heroine vs. horror [...]

Kevin Pereira Can’t Read: What Is an “Action Chick Flick”?

Llama Mama | September 19, 2009

Attack of the Show! host Kevin Pereira

“Either Kevin’s Teleprompter Read ‘Action Chick Flick’ Instead of ‘Action Flick Chick’ or AOTS Host Kevin Pereira Made a Simple Mistake the First Time He Mentioned the Action Flick Chick’” would have made for a post title that was both unwieldy and wishy-washy.
Right after Kevin Pereira’s obscene microphone gag (pun intended – if you know the “gag”) [...]

Megan Fox as Catwoman – a Fox, a Cat, and a Chick

Llama Mama | August 26, 2009

megan-fox-esquire-nov-01

Without providing a single source, The Sun has stirred things up with its claim that Megan Fox (Jennifer’s Body, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) has been cast to play Catwoman in the next Batman film. Other news sources are posting, quoting, and distorting the story, all inevitably drawing from the same unsupported report. Even the [...]

Videos: Lola Rennt (1998) – Run, Lola, Run (1999)

Llama Mama | July 14, 2009

Lola Rennt (1998) theatrical poster

If you haven’t seen Run, Lola, Run, the English-titled release of the German Lola rennt (literally “Lola runs”), SEE IT! Don’t even watch these videos first.

Spoiler alert: The title character runs. Beyond that, the less you know beforehand, the better. Just see it. Our readers probably best know its Franka Potente as Marie from The Bourne Identity.

In case you’re wondering who had this hair first: Milla Jovovich starred in The Fifth Element (1997) a year earlier. Besides, they’re less similar than some people seem to think.

Our friend Coop at Small Town Critic found himself so overwhelmed by thoughts of our Action Flick Chick that he felt compelled to write the following missive. Maybe recents rumors regarding her true identity inspired him.

Interview with David Leitch (Matrix, 300, Wolverine, Bourne Ultimatum, Confessions of an Action Star) Pt. 1

Action Flick Chick | May 15, 2009

david-leitch

I had the great pleasure of talking to David Leitch, stunt coordinator, stunt double, director, and actor. He’s a very talented man that has worked on some very well known movies such as The Matrix Revolutions, 300, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and The Bourne Ultimatum, and the list goes on and on

Resident Evil (2002)

Action Flick Chick | February 26, 2009

Milla Jovovich

You think she’s innocent. You think she’s helpless at first, and then she goes and breaks a zombie’s neck with her bare hands.

Nothing says good old fashioned scary zombie movie like having two hot women kick some zombie . . .
