Producers of Psych

I sat down with the cast of Psych at SDCC 2013 to discuss all the hot topics surrounding the show, including the upcoming musical episode that will premiere in December, and the upcoming season. You can find all the info about the musical episode in my write up on Fan Voice, 6 Things We Learned About Psych’s Musical Episode, and all about season 8 in my write up for CraveOnline, 6 Things We Learned About Psych Season 8 at Comic-Con. Below you will find some random bits the cast discussed such as Cary Elwes talking about sequels to his most popular movies and whether or not Dule Hill (Gus) likes candy.

Cary Elwes on Improvisation

The cast likes to do a lot of improvisation on set, including Cary Elwes. He said, “Improvising means not being afraid to fall flat on your face. Because you never know what’s going to work and what might not work. Just try anything and see what happens.”

Dule Hill on Candy

With as much as Gus eats candy on the show, I had to ask Dule Hill if he was as big of a candy-holic as his character, to which he replied, “No, I really don’t eat a lot of candy. There’s a spit bucket in the takes. I’ll eat like one or two but after awhile it’s like, I’ve got to spit this out.”

Cary Elwes on Sequels to Robin Hood and The Princess

Bride

Carey Elwes

“I could never go back now because I’m too old to do any sequels. There’s talk of taking some of them to Broadway. I know Mel is talking about doing Robin Hood on Broadway. I think that Robin is talking about bringing Princess Bride to Broadway.”

Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson’s Favorite Guest

Stars

Bernsen stated, “Malcolm McDowell, who’s a good buddy, and Tim Curry. These are guys I go back a bit with.” And Nelson was blown away by William Shatner: “He was Mr. Shatner to me. He was so nice and ready to play with us.” As far as who they would like to see on the show Nelson said, “They wish they could have gotten Emilio Estevez. I would have loved Hugh Laurie, because they’ve still never met my husband. That’s my wish list.” Bernsen reflected, “I wanted my mom to be on the show. She’s done almost everything I’ve been a part of.”
