Christopher Flocco: original X-Men for Sega… reset the level? dafuq?
Christopher Hunt: The old Mortal Kombat games… 2 fighters in and the CPU punishes you repeatedly. Then if you make to the final boss…grrrrr.
Dalanna Bottorff: MW3, or any COD games…tonight I think I invented new words….

Luis Robles: halo online!
Luke Malin: Any that won’t run on my b grade rig.

Ryan Breaux: Original Mario kart 150cc races!!!! Those mfers cheated their asses off
Shawn Rakar: God of War because my hand gets too tired to hit the X, O, or the square button rapidly for a long amount of time!
Steve Chung: God Of War. How can Kratos not be able to jump over a hole in the floor of Hades or jump across when some Harpies are shooting arrows at him? I dunno. :(
Tara Lynn Quick: Syphon Filter (esp 2) for not having enough goddamn save points. Seriously, I broke controllers.
Terrell Chavis: MegaMan 4. Damn you Toad Man and your blasted wind!

Review: Safe (2012)!

Posted By Action Flick Chick on May 10, 2012

Most people can’t even remember their phone number let alone a list of numbers a mile long. There are those gifted people, though, who can memorize anything. You know the type: the ones that never had to study in school and still made 100’s while you’d studied all night and barely pull off a B…or less. Yeah, those jerks! Mei (Catherine Chan) is one of those jerks, and when she memorizes a valuable list of numbers it makes her the most sought after twelve year old girl in the world… literally the Russians, the Triads, corrupt politicians, corrupt police officers, and one Luke Wright (Jason Statham) are all chasing one little girl through the streets of New York City. Luke is the only one, though, who intends to save Mei from everyone else and not use her for his own personal gain. Everyone else just wants the number she was forced to memorize that will open a safe full of millions of dollars. Will Luke keep Mei safe while also scoring the number to the safe? Find out in Safe!

For the most part, this is your typical Jason Statham film in which he runs around a city and beats the living daylights out of everyone. However, there were a few things that made this film different from Statham’s others. This time around his side kick/package to save is a young girl. He also plays a mopey, depressed character in the beginning that has everything taken away from him and still gets pooped on every time he turns a corner. I wasn’t a fan of this; it was boring and not fun. Who wants to see Statham get beat up repeatedly? I am watching the film so that I can see him do the beating. So get to it already!

Safe played it safe a little too much on the action. It still had some great fight scenes and stunts, but there wasn’t anything that unique about any of it. Once the film is over you’ll forget about most of what just happened. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still enjoyable, has plenty of action, and fun to watch once you get past mopey Luke and into the part where he just beats ass. I wouldn’t rush out to the theaters to watch it though. It’d be a nice choice for the next rental night.

Warning! Spoiler!

Best Moment: In the end it comes down to Luke and one of the numerous major baddies facing off. Baddie has Mei hostage, and Luke has merchandise the baddie wants. They decide to set down their guns and fight it out like MANLY men. Right as they start to fight, Mei picks up a gun and shoots Baddie in the leg. He falls to the ground and Luke finishes him off quickly with a couple of shots to the head! Screw fair play!

Action Rating: 3 ½ Safes, out of 5.

The Avengers Tops All Time Opening Weekend Record!!!

Posted By Action Flick Chick on May 7, 2012

Sweet googa mooga! Marvel’s The Avengers just finished its opening weekend in the United States. It did pretty well…you know, only raking in $200.3 million putting it at the top of the charts for “All time opening weekend” revenue! It surpassed the previous number one spot held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 by more than $30 million. It’s going to be extremely tough to beat an opening like that, but there’s still The Dark Knight Rises in July. Overall The Avengers grossed over $641 million worldwide since it’s release. Amazing!

It’s a great time to be a superhero fan/nerd/geek! More and more good superhero films have come out in the past years and are making their way to the big screen in the near future. Looking at the top five all time opening weekend, three of them are superhero films (The Avengers [#1], The Dark Knight [#3], Spider-Man 3 [#5]) and the other two (Deathly Hallows Pt 2 [#2] and The Hunger Games [#4]) are films very popular amongst the nerd population.

Review: The Avengers (2012)!!!!!!

Posted By Action Flick Chick on May 6, 2012

Never have so many superheroes been on screen at one time! And never has a movie been more awesome than The Avengers! Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) all come together to form a team of badasses so impressive it’ll make you want to be the best super villain you can be just to have the chance to get your ass kicked by all of them.

The Avengers truly is an amazing film in every aspect. Joss Whedon managed to miraculously juggle all these heroes so that each star had enough screen time and retains their core personalities. I was afraid with so many big wigs on screen together the defining characteristics that fans love would get lost or muddled, but they didn’t! Thor was still the more mature, grown up man we saw at the end of Thor. Captain America was still the polite, level headed, team leader he was in Captain America. And Tony Stark was still his fast-talking, self-centered Robert Downey Jr. being awesome self. As for the others (Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye), these relatively undeveloped characters each get some screen time to let them shine. The audience sees a little some of the dark past hiding within Black Widow. Hawkeye was only briefly in Thor, but this time the relationship between him and Black Widow is developed and his excellent skill with a bow is proven. And the Hulk! Bruce Banner/The Hulk steals every scene he’s in. Mark Ruffalo really nailed it in his depiction of this endearing, nerdy guy putting everything he’s got into being remembered for something other than being a giant green rage monster. When he is in green monster form, though, he’s allowed to let loose and have a little fun wrecking things.

The action was large scale awesomeness! In addition to the main heroes vs. villains conflict you’ll get to see some of the greatest hero vs. hero fights ever brought to the big screen. With near immortal characters who can do impossible things, one’s imagination is the only limit to the action possibilities; and, let me just say, Whedon (and creator Stan Lee) both have marvelous imaginations.

The Avengers lives up to all the hopes and dreams fans wanted it to be. It’s a fantastic superhero film with fantastic action and a must watch for every single person.

SPOILERS HERE ON OUT

Action Chick’s Favorite Movie Moments in The Avengers:

  • The view of Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Captain America, The Hulk standing in a circle preparing to fight.
  • Captain America telling The Hulk “smash.”
  • Scarlett Johansson’s delivery on “Yeah. It’ll be fun” when deciding to hitch a ride with one of the baddies in the finale.
  • The Hulk’s “conversation” with Loki… Bam-Bam style.
  • “That man is playing Galaga! He thought none of us would call him out on it but I am.”
  • Black Widow’s interrogation scenes in the beginning and with Loki.
  • The multiple superhero vs. superhero fights (Iron Man vs. Thor, Thor vs. The Hulk,  Black Widow vs. Hawkeye).

Which Avenger Stole the Show?

Action Flick Chick: Which Avenger stole the show?
One particular Avenger won this vote by a landslide. He probably caused the landslide himself by headbutting a mountain.

Answers on Facebook:
A Quinn: HULK!!!!!!!!
Aaron Joel Pleat: Hulk, by far.
ActionMovieFreak.com: Hulk. without question.
Adam Poynter: HULK/Bruce Banner!
Alan Sizzler Kistler: You.
Alex Langley: Everyone was so, so awesome but Bruce Banner/Hulk surprised me with just how freaking awesome he was.
Alfred Alfie Norris: Hulk
Alvertis Williams: Everyone is saying that this is the first time they got the hulk right, in the Incredible Hulk movie….he was perfect.
Travis Langley This one did things with the Hulk that The Incredible Hulk just didn’t have the opportunity to do. No comedic sucker punch before, for instance. This is the funniest we’ve ever seen the Hulk.
Alvertis Williams: Hulk did easily….no contest….iron man close second.
Andrea Levine: Hulk and Agent Coulson.
Andrew Masih: Hulk and Black Widow
Arthur Moy: Hulk!
Carter Friend: Hulk.
Christoffer Andersson: Ruffalo was the standout among the Avengers-characters this time around imoho. But Tom Hiddleston as Loki was a treat in general. Unhinged, creepy, malicious and exceptionally hammy. Just what this movie needed
Christopher Morgan: The Hulk, by FAR.
Dan Gutierrez: I don’t know if it’s the “real” hulk, he’s the first to truly meet our high expectations.
Dave Montalbano: No one, it was a total team effort on so many levels.
David H. Ampton: John Steed?
Denis Doran: Hulk
George Wagner: HULK!
Harold Burman: Hulk SMASH!!!!!
Ian Garrette Holt: I think alot of people will say Hulk cause it’s the first time we got the real Hulk
Ian Garrette Holt: They all stood out at there own Moments.
John Scrofani: The Hulk
Jose Soria: Hulk all the way..
Julie Haagenson: Capt America’s butt! lol
Kahlan Khong: Josh Whedon ♥ ………………(“he’s adopted”) BAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Kanu Digit: I have to give the top to Captain America. A man out of place and time but he still takes the leadership role in the fight. He turns them from just a group fighting into a team.
Kathryn Blair: ‎*Smash* ;)
Kathryn Blair: Seriously, everyone involved did an amazing job! Totally worth the wait. Stoked to take the tcup to see. Going to be on the edge of the seat with excitement I’m sure. :D
Kurly Tlapoyawa: Hulk
Lani Deves: Hulk, but I also thing NAtasha did a good job of trying to though.
Larry Frantzen: HULK!!!
LordComett Dloa: All of them :)
Luigi Garofalo: The Hulk
Luis Robles: Iron man!!!
Luis Sam: Hulk with his smashing of Loki :P
Michael Whitehead: Hulk is the strongest of them all
Ray Smotherman: Hulk vs Thor. The final punch :)
Reo Atienza: Hulk
Richard Purnell: what everyone said. Hulk.
Ryan Breaux: Hulk.
Shawna Bracken: Okay, so he’s not technically an Avenger, but Coulson hit me hard.
Shawna Bracken: Okay, so he’s not technically an Avenger, but Coulson hit me hard.
Siegfried Padilla Golderos: ‎”The Other Guy”. Can’t wait to see it again. :)
Thomas Leath: Definitely the HULK!
Timmy Hensley: Yeah Hulk with his humor and facial expression stole the show, but the movie made me love Thor even more, that is one bad dude.
Travis Langley: Every character had great moments. Every single one. I laughed hardest at the Hulk and the post-credits scene. This movie did things with the Hulk that previous movies just didn’t manage. For some reason, I really love that Banner rode off with Stark at the end. (Nobody worried about spoiler alerts should be reading a thread like this in the first place.)
