Fright Night (2011)

Posted By Action Flick Chick on August 24, 2011

Fright Night! Vampires and blood, blood and vampires! If a vampire movie doesn’t have tons of blood in it, it’s a piece of crap and I want no part of it. Thankfully, Fright Night has both and is quite a good little flick.

Fright Night’s main dude, Charley (Anton Yelchin) gets a new, hot neighbor, Jerry (Collin Farrell), with a few eccentricities like only coming out at night, working at night, and blacking out all the windows in his house. The new neighbor coincides with several students and families disappearing. Hmmm, is there a connection? (Hint: yes, there is.) Turns out his new neighbor is a VAMPIRE! Run, lest he suck your blood dry! Well, Charley can’t run from Jerry since he’s a special very powerful breed of vampire, the kind that keeps taking Charley’s friends as late-night snacks, so Charley must fight Jerry to the death!

First off, David Tennant was fantastic! I love that guy. He’s so funny and his character is a great leap from how I’m used to seeing him as The Doctor. As an overall film, Fright Night was good. It’s funny and tense at the same time. You’re laughing at something one second then as soon as you take a breath you’re digging your nails into the armrest. The action is barely there, but that’s okay. It’s a horror film, and the humor and tense parts keep you interested until the big action sequence at the end. So, in the words of McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), “Don’t you have some sluts to go f***?” (Best Line) If not, give Fright Night a watch.

Action Rating: 1 Cussin’ David Tennants, out of 5.

This is the Action Flick Chick, and you’ve just been kicked in the ass!
