Coming Attraction: Priest (2011)

One of my favorite men in Hollywood, Paul Bettany, is coming out with a new film called Priest. The film is set in a world that has been destroyed by many battles between vampires and humans. Now, humans live in a small walled-in city ruled by the Church. Bettany plays a priest whose niece has been kidnapped by the big bad head vampire. He goes on a mission to save her and hopefully kill a butt ton of vampires along the way. Maggie Q will also grace us with her mad skills in Priest, and Karl Urban will be the big bad vampire. The film is set to be released May 13, 2011.

HOLY S””’T – Paul Bettany, a bit of the ancient look, end of world look, plus futuristic look and VAMPS – Who would not want to see this film? The above combination I think equals to one hell of a film. I say be there or be square!

Thanks again and as always for the wonderful ‘heads-up’ Ms. Chick!

I think I would like this movie for fun. In fact it’s my kind of movie, but I hate it how they lie about it’s connections to the books. Even the creator has to make a new book that has nothing to do with the previous books just so it can some how be able stay true to their promotion that it’s based off the books.

The film is set in an altered Earth, where vampires and humans have fought a war for centuries. But the book jumped from different time periods, from biblical to modern while the core of the story was set in the old west.

In the books, Ivan Isaacs was portrayed a priest that turned into a demon possessed undead creature after he saw members of the vatican killed the woman he loved, his adopted sister. In the film he’s a mortal priest/vampire-hunter searching for his niece.

The books had him face a multitude of enemies such as: criminals of the old west, demons, zombies, unnatural assassins from the vatican, fallen and mutant angels. The main antogonist was a fallen angel called Temozarela. There were no vampires in the books. However, The film’s antagonists are only vampires (similar to the video game DarkWatch) led by someone who was a priest called Black Hat.

They say it’s based off the books, but so far only the title has remained unchanged. This looks more like a story that was attached to the book just for the sake it would get a better chance of being made and get the money from Hollywood. Truly the story and characters could stand on it’s own without any connection to the comics. So I hope it does better than Legion.
