Megan Fox as Catwoman – a Fox, a Cat, and a Chick

Posted By Llama Mama on August 26, 2009

megan-fox-esquire-nov-01Without providing a single source, The Sun has stirred things up with its claim that Megan Fox (Jennifer’s Body, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) has been cast to play Catwoman in the next Batman film. Other news sources are posting, quoting, and distorting the story, all inevitably drawing from the same unsupported report. Even the Associated Press spread this while citing no source but The Sun. If it happens, it happens, but come on, people! Verify some information already!

Over on twitter, People have been tweeting about this like crazy, alternating boosting Catwoman or Megan Fox into the top ten trending topics, the most common subjects getting mentioned in tweets (twitter posts). Tweeters appear to be divided between those who think she’d be horrible because she can’t act and those who yearn to see Fox wear the catsuit.

The Action Flick Chick (@actionchick on twitter) quoted a few tweeters’ responses on this. When asked for her own suggestion, she instead surveyed followers and then the tweets came pouring in!

Tweeted suggestions included (in little to no particular order) Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Zoe Saldane, Elisha Cuthbert, Eliza Dushku, Esther Anderson, Rose McGowan, Ali Larter, Beyonce,  Megan Fox, anyone but Megan Fox, Sanaa Lathan, Lenora Crichlow, Alison Haislip (it’s amazing no one in this crowd mentioned Alison’s colleague Olivia Munn), Rita Simons, Rhona Mitra, Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis, Milla Jovovich,  Michelle Monaghan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, Eva Mendes, Felicia Day, Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johansson, Joan Jett, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Connelly, Kate Winslet, Kate Beckinsale, Summer Glau, Natalie Portman, Natalie Morales, Rosario Dawson, Morena Baccarin, Naomi Watts, Carla Gugino, Queen Latifah, Meryl Streep, Sarah Palin, more Theron, more Weisz, more Biel, more repeats, “maybe the same chick who played Silk Spectre in Watchmen,” an unknown, none of the above…whew!

These were among the many interesting responses:

KitKatSenses: no no no no, megan fox cannot be catwoman in batman. it’s like asking a legless man to stand up and walk.

Justincalvert: Megan Fox but only if Shia Labeouf is Batman and they fight giant robots

thehulkster: oddly enough I just got a phone call suggesting I play catwoman! After all this time as batman!

owr: Or a complete random off the street (well, so long as they can act) – that would be cool.

Kneon: I think Rachel Dawes lived and will be Catwoman. We never did see a body. So I vote Maggie Gyllenhaal.

pulptoneGyllenhaal as Catwoman? No thanks. She was completely misscast from the beginning.

Fadercreep: If anybody says Cher. Slap them.

At least one person objects to Fox for the very reason others wanted her – her looks:

NochezI’m also a NO for any film idea that places Megan Fox all covered up like that!

Aside from the yeas and nays over Megan Fox herself, the person mentioned most frequently during throughout this discussion turned out to be the Action Flick Chick herself.

adamshealy: I can nominate you too right?

Someguynamedpat: My Vote – You or Jessica Biel

WilsonDutcher: RT @Someguynamedpat My Vote – You or Jessica Biel

raywilson: I vote @actionchick to play Catwoman!

MOE_GUNZ: Everyone talking about Megan Fox as Catwoman. I say @actionchick will pwn her ass. Megan Fox didn’t even prove she can act yet.

MOE_GUNZ: Megan Fox in a fight. Action Chick gets the role for her pure awesomness. Down goes Megan.

Shadowbat: @actionchick Kat Hill as Catwoman!

They must have been impressed by her performance in Run, Action Flick Chick, Run!

Maybe the Chick can borrow a costume from this cosplayer she met last week at Dallas Comic-Con.

I think they should cast her, shoot a ton of publicity stills in the catsuit and then yank the script from her and give it to Sara Paxton – who can really act and would be effective as Cat Woman.

I’m not opposed to Megan Fox as Catwoman. It could work! But it would be okay if someone else played Catwoman too, perhaps Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill. She’d be my pick.

  4. Megan Fox would be a horrible choice for Catwoman and I am glad that this is just a horrible, horrible rumor. She is an awful actress and honestly I don’t think she is that attractive. To quote my friend Paul, “She looks like she’d be sticky… and not in a good way.”

  5. Karen Karen says:

Just read that People.com article you posted. So Megan’s out. Too bad the idea was kind of growing on me.

Michelle Pfeiffer was too good in Burton’s version to be replaced by someone with so little charisma, but I think the casting is safe in Nolan’s hands. He knows what he is looking for, and he knows what character he is casting for.

If we follow up with a note about all the additional people who talked about the Chick as Catwoman, note Hour 42 BlogTalkRadio’s nod: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Hour42/2009/08/31/HOUR-42.

I some how find this from G4tv.com Anyways, who’s Llama Mama?

  11. Marco: She’s a website editor. We give her the byline on some items that are particularly time consuming to edit – like sorting through so many tweets to compile all these people’s twitter names.

Not sure what link at G4 led you to this particular article, but here’s what the Action Flick Chick has to do with G4: http://actionflickchick.com/superaction/aots-dcc-video/

  12. [...] not a great start for a well publicized featuring starring hot-actress-of-the-moment Megan Fox (who, despite rumors and ill-informed news reports, has not been cast as Catwoman, by the way). Maybe they shouldn’t have cut the nudity (near nudity, partial nudity, or whatever [...]
