The Most Powerful Women on Twitter – Who’s Tops on Twitter Grader?

Twitter Grader has created a list of the 100 Most Powerful Women on Twitter – and look who’s in the top 20 as of right after midnight, August 6. Dharmesh Shah (@Dharmesh) of Twitter Grade and HubSpot told Katrina that the list is a work in progress and Katrina pointed out a few women belong on the list including several who outrank her, so this will quickly change, but it’s still nice to see. Twitter Grader is a fun and interesting indicator of who twitter’s movers and shakers tend to be.

Also of note: After months listed as the #4 most powerful Dallas tweeter, @ActionChick moved up to #1 when Twitter Grader improved how they calculated ranks by city and later to #3. Southwest Airlines may have over a million followers, but their twitter account doesn’t engage in a lot of exciting conversations that bring together a wide variety of people.

All of these in the Top 20 have scores of 100 out of 100 on Twitter Grader’s rating system. What does that mean? It’s not just that they have a lot of followers, although that does figure into their scores. They have more followers than the number they themselves are following, they update frequently, they get RT’d by many others, and those who recently RT’d or mentioned them include folks with higher scores themselves.

Addendum:
Over the following 24 hours, the numbers changed, all right. Katrina went down to #26 but is at this time (1:11 a.m. Central 8/7) #8 on the Women’s list. Rank on all of twitter is presently #107 out of 7,538,384 after reaching #583 in the middle of the day – none of which is shabby at all. We know what her specific twitter activities were, so we have a pretty good explanation for each fluctuation in those numbers.

Please note: We’re just saying that these numbers are interesting.

@actionchick: Seriously, numbers are just indicators of what’s going on. They mean TOO many diff things & should not themselves be goals.

  3. I used to worry about this stuff, then Twitter went mainstream, and it wasn’t really part of The Experiment anyway….
